Cláudia Gomes Oliveira
Writing . Translation
I am a written word enthusiast.
I like to write for children and, if I can, in verse.
My book-length translations include As Bruxas de Manningtree (The Manningtree Witches) by award-winning author and poet A. K. Blakemore (Aurora, 2024), the series As Lendas Improváveis de Baskerville Hall (The Improbable Tales of Baskerville Hall) by Ali Standish (Presença, 2024), Nome de Guerra: Emma (Alias: Emma) by Ava Glass (Presença, 2024), O Meu Período (Own Your Period) by Chella Quint (Jacarandá, 2022), and more.
I regularly collaborate with government authorities, museums, and other cultural and educational institutions by providing language consultancy and translation services (English & Spanish into EU Portuguese).
My training comprises an MEng in Urban Engineering (University of Lisbon), an MA in Film Studies (University of Exeter), a Diploma in Translation and Linguists Information Technologies (Camões Institute), and Certificates in Creative Writing, Proofreading, and Inclusive Language. I studied Theatre and Dance (in Lisbon and London) and worked in the artistic Portuguese scene for over a decade.
